Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to after a teenager was shot in the leg the state’s north-west in the dead of night.
Emergency services were called to Niagara St in Armidale about 3.20am on May 31 to reports of shots being fired.
Police were told a 19-year-old man had been walking on the street when he was approached by an unknown person and a number of shots were fired at him.
He was treated by paramedics for a non-life threatening wound to his leg and groin, before being taken to hospital for further treatment.
Police established a crime scene and are now probing the circumstances around the incident.
They have since released an image taken from CCTV of a man they wish to speak to regarding the incident, who they believe can help with their inquiries.
At this stage in the investigation, it is not suggested the man in the photo is the gunman.
Police are urging anyone with information, including dash cam or mobile footage of the incident, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
