A former Taree rescue volunteer allegedly masqueraded as a police officer, dealt with stolen property and had prohibited weapons.

Joshua Goulden is facing a long list of charges including one referred to in court documents as ‘not a police officer/special constable wearing a police uniform’.

The 28-year-old is also charged with being in possession of various weapons including unauthorised, prohibited and unregistered firearms.

The Taree Rescue Squad Association has confirmed Goulden was a former volunteer but was suspended and then dismissed formally over seven years ago.
