British electronic dance music artist Fred Again has sent fans into a frenzy with a major announcement following his surprise sold out show in Sydney on Tuesday night.
After hours of teasing fans on social media, English DJ Fred Again finally announced his Australian tour, but it’s sooner than expected.
The DJ will be kicking off in Melbourne next week at Rod Laver Arena with three shows on March 4, 5 and 6.
Sydney fans who missed out securing tickets at Fred’s surprise show at the Opera House can now prepare to head to Qudos Bank Arena with three shows scheduled for March 12, 13 and 14.
The DJ will also host a pop up show in the Gold Coast on March 9 with a location yet to be confirmed.
Video footage from inside the Sydney Opera House where the popular artist performed a last-minute show for just 2500 people, shows Fred teasing further gigs down under.
“This is not the end, we have not come all this way for one show,” he said.
“We’re announcing a bunch more tomorrow. We love you. Thank you so much, thanks guys.”
Fans who attended the pop-up performance on Tuesday night have taken to social media to confirm the news of more potential shows in Sydney.
“For everyone in Sydney that couldn’t get tickets tonight, Fred Again said that tomorrow he will make an announcement about his next show this week. Keep your eyes peeled,” a TikTok user said.
Others speculated the London born DJ would make an announcement on Instagram revealing further ticket sales by 10am on Wednesday, but fans are still waiting.
This comes as the artist posted a TikTok on Tuesday asking for fans to suggest local venues to perform at.
“This year I wanna do more to support small independent venues,” he said on TikTok.
“So everywhere we go we’re gonna do something at one of the best spots in town.
“Let me know if you have any more suggestions.”
Fred performed new, unreleased music for Sydneysiders on Tuesday night, including a collaboration with London-based dance music duo Joy Anonymous.
The announcement to his 2.3 million Instagram followers on Tuesday resulted in the Opera
House website crashing.
Two hours after he posted, some 120,000 people were in the online queue to buy tickets for the surprise gig.
Less than 24 hours earlier, he shared a series of Instagram stories teasing the shows.
The first post read: “Okay, we’re getting on a flight now and when we land we’re gonna play some shows.”
He went on to detail each step of the trip.“I’ve been so excited about this for months,” he wrote. “The squad is assembling. Australia!!!!! We here! Sydney Opera House tonight!!!”
The 30-year-old continued: “ok sydney opera house tonight. this show genuinely is super last minute. So we’re super gassed to be able to do it at all! and the orchestra is rehearsing until 6pm today! and this is theirrrr house of course lol. so we’re doing a REAL stripped version of the show cos we’ve only got 2 hours to build it! no lights. one small screen. me. tony. and maybe the most beautiful venue in the world.”
More to come.
