Detectives have conducted a forensic search in bushland about 16km south-west of Goulburn as part of the investigation into the suspicious disappearance of a Western Sydney woman.
Samah Baker, aged 30, was last seen after she was dropped off at her Early Street, Parramatta, home by a friend in the early hours of Friday 4 January 2019.
She was reported missing by relatives later that day after they could not get in contact with her.
A Facebook update days after Samah Baker went missing is the only sign of life the family of the 30-year-old have had since she went missing in Parramatta more than two months ago.
Ms Baker had two Facebook pages, the profile picture of one was changed a few days after she went missing on January 4.
That page has since been deleted while the other remains unchanged.
The Ultimo TAFE receptionist has not, been heard from, seen, used her bank cards or turned on her mobile phone since she was dropped off at her Parramatta home at 1.30am by a male friend.
The man claimed to police he dropped her home and watched her walk through the front door before leaving. Ms Baker’s two flatmates didn’t see her get home.
She is described as being Mediterranean/Middle Eastern in appearance, 155-165 cm tall, with a medium build, and long dark hair.
Detectives investigating her disappearance are treating it as suspicious and following extensive inquiries, they conducted a forensic search in bushland at Yarra from yesterday.
Officers located several items which may be relevant to the investigation, the seized items will now undergo forensic examination.
As their inquiries continue, detectives are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage, who was driving on the Hume Highway near the French VC rest stop at Yarra between 9pm and midnight on Friday 4 January 2019, to come forward.
Parramatta Police Area Commander, Superintendent Julie Boon, said the search at the site was also expected to continue today.
“We’ve had great community support following an appeal earlier this week, but we are continuing to call on those who can provide us with details of Samah Baker’s movements in early January,” Supt Boon said.
“We believe there are people out there who may know where Samah is but are fearful or reluctant to come forward.
“To them I say, please put yourselves in the shoes of the Baker family. They want to find their beloved daughter and sister and bring her home.
“It could just be that small detail or dashcam vision that could help investigators find Samah.”
