Police release CCTV in search for missing Samah

Samah Baker was dropped off at her Parramatta home in the early hours of the morning on January 4 — but the 30-year-old woman hasn’t been seen since.

Detectives from Parramatta Police Area Command have released CCTV footage of Ms Baker two days before she vanished, as part of Strike Force Boutcher — the unit established to investigate her disappearance.

Despite not being seen for the past two months, Ms Baker’s social media accounts — including a now-deleted Facebook page — had been updated several days after her disappearance.

The administrative assistant for an Ultimo-based company was reported missing to police by family just hours after she was dropped off at her home at 27 Early St, Parramatta, following several attempts to contact her.

Samah Baker was last seen at 1.30am in Parramatta almost 10 days ago.

As part of their inquiries, strike force investigators released footage of Ms Baker inside a hotel in North Sydney on January 2, just two days before she disappeared.

The Advertiser also understands police had followed several enquiries in south east queensland and Melbourne, with no suspects ruled out of the strike force investigation.

The Baker family, who have requested privacy during the investigation, said they were devastated they have still not seen or heard from Samah.

“Samah is a very outgoing, vivacious, and kind-hearted person and could make friends with everyone she met,” the family said is a statement to police.

“Every day without our much-loved sister and daughter is filled with unimaginable grief.

“We want to find her and bring her home, back where she belongs. Please, if you know where she is, we are begging you to call police.”

Police said she is described as being Mediterranean or Middle Eastern in appearance, 155-165 cm tall, with a medium build, and long dark hair.

“In the vision, Ms Baker is seen wearing both a peach-orange coloured dress and a black and white spotted shirt and denim shorts,” a NSW Police spokesman said.

“These items of clothing have not been located during police searches.”

Parramatta Police Area Commander, Superintendent Julie Boon, said Ms Baker’s family hold “grave concerns for her welfare as her disappearance was out of character”.

“It’s been an agonising two months for Samah’s family as it is a long time to not see or hear from her,” Supt Boon said.

“It’s very unusual for her not to contact her family for such a long period of time, and there were no known plans of her to leave her home or Sydney.

“Despite her social media account being updated since she was reported missing, investigators are examining the possibility she may have met with foul play.

“We will continue to pursue all lines of inquiry and are calling on the community to come forward and help us locate Samah.”

Ms Baker was last seen by a male friend who dropped her home at approximately 1.30am on January 4 following a brief overnight stay in the city.

She and a friend stayed overnight at the Vibe Hotel, North Sydney before travelling to St Michael’s Catholic Church is Belfield before drinks in Chinatown and the Sydney CBD and dinner in Coogee.

Supt. Boon said police were appealing for witnesses who may have been in Early St, Parramatta on the day of her disappearance.

“Samah’s social media accounts appear to have been used since January 4,” Supt. Boon said.

Detectives are calling for anyone who saw the woman coming or going from Early Street, Parramatta, or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of January 4, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigators are also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage during that time, particularly between 1am and 7am, to come forward.
