You won’t break me.

A determined Erin Molan has declared she’s mentally-steeled to deal with the scrutiny and pressure of Sydney FM radio.

Molan has taken a major career-leap to join a new breakfast show with the 2DayFM Morning Crew with Dave “Hughesy” Hughes and Ed Kavalee.

The move is a bold career decision for Molan who went public this year with the emotional and mental toll that social media trolls have had on her and her family.

So much so, the Nine TV and rugby league presenter revealed she had knocked back previous offers to join FM radio a lot earlier in her career because she was unable to handle the pressure and scrutiny.

But now – the 37-year-old talent is ready like she’s never been before.

“There’s been different opportunities over the past few years and one of the reasons why I turned those down was I didn’t want to add breakfast radio and the crap that can go with that,’’ Molan said.

“Because at that time it still affected me. The media coverage and all the talk and all the comments, would have affected me.

“Now – I feel so confident that I can go into that and not be affected by any of the noise.

“I went through a really tough year with The Footy Show and it was almost daily when there were stories or articles and it was quite harrowing at times.

“But I’m a different person now. I’m much more resilient and I wouldn’t go into this if I wasn’t able to handle it.

“You look at the headlines surrounding me over the last few years, I don’t think there’s too much worse that can be written, to be honest.

“There’ll be speculation, there’ll be ratings results, there’ll be who doesn’t like who this week, or a faction – all that is part and parcel of it.

“Experience over the last few years, experience of having things written about me that aren’t true and the fact that as a result of my beautiful daughter, I’ve changed so much since having her. Having her perspective is such a beautiful thing.”

Molan, mother to two-year-old Eliza will continue with her Nine TV commitments, “which I’m grateful for”, but will depart 2GB’s Continuous Call Team for the January 18 launch of her FM career.

She added she was ruthless in making certain the bosses of 2DayFM were committed to having an impact on the city’s intensely tough and competitive morning radio timeslot and that her chemistry with Hughes and Kavalee – both of whom will live in Sydney – would be critical.

“I feel I interviewed them just as much as they interviewed me,’’ Molan said.

“I wanted to make sure that I was going into something confident that would work.

“Dave, Ed and I already have our group text sorted out.

“And I’ve reached out to their wives to make sure we catch up when they arrive in Sydney.

“Although Ed doesn’t drink and Dave is a vegan that doesn’t drink either...I’m not sure what that will mean for me.”
