The Barrel Run tours set to launch in Coffs Harbour this month

The region’s flourishing brewing and distillery industry has paved the way for a new Coffs Coast tourism experience set to launch at the end of the month.

The Barrel Run will be the first of its kind, offering tours of award-winning distilleries, craft breweries and boutique wineries from Woolgoolga down to the Bellingen Shire.

Founder Jaie Drieberg said he had always loved authentic local beverages.

The tradesman said he’d visited several venues with his wife Jade a few years ago, but it was when the pandemic hit that they dreamt of being able to bring the experience to the Coffs Coast.

With the industry now beginning to boom on the Coffs Coast, that vision is able to be brought to life.

Critters Distillery opened in Woolgoolga last year, Woolgoolga Brewing Company opened in September and Coffs Harbour’s first ever brewpub, King Tide Brewing, is set to open its doors later this month – meaning several small businesses are now available to quench the thirst for local produce.

Mr Drieberg said it presented a great opportunity for the The Barrel Run to support the small businesses.

“I’ve always loved the local stuff,” Mr Drieberg said, “with all these local businesses opening up, we thought why not offer this new experience?”

The Barrel Run will have a soft launch on November 20 and 21, before official bookings begin from November 27.

The six-hour tours, which will run on weekends, will begin at Critters Distillery and will visit Woolgoolga Brewing Company for lunch before heading to Raleigh Winery and King Tide Brewing.

The tours, which are able to be customised, include six tastings from each venue and are available for any occasion from bucks parties to work parties.

“We’re very excited – we’re already booked out until Christmas,” Mr Drieberg said.
