A young woman, who just last week learnt she was pregnant, fronted Coffs Harbour Local Court for harassing her ex-partner and damaging property.
The court heard at one stage Migla Anne Lewis-Stasionis, who previously spent time working as a law clerk at a Brisbane firm, called him 42 times over a one-and-a-half hour period.
She had recently returned to Coffs Harbour to re-establish a relationship with a man — whose family operates a well known banana farm — who she had previously been involved with.
The court heard she worked on the banana plantation but the relationship once again broke down.
Magistrate Ian Rodgers told the court that in February the victim contacted police in relation to the matter and they advised him to send Ms Lewis-Stasionis a text asking her to stop contacting him.
Mr Rodgers then outlined the “repeated nature of the offence” that followed with Ms Lewis-Stasionis contacting the victim 42 times over a one-and-a-half hour period.
She was convicted and fined $600 for using carriage service to menace/harass/offend.
Ms Lewis-Stasionis was also charged with destroy or damage property (domestic violence related) in relation to a 15cm long cut in a screen door.
Her lawyer argued that Ms Lewis-Stasionis had returned to the property where she and her ex-partner had lived but due to renovations at the home her access was limited.
However, she was convicted and sentenced to a 12-month Conditional Release Order starting on March 21.
When she did not appear in relation to these two matters she was charged with fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment. She pleaded guilty to this charge and was convicted but no penalty was imposed.
