A heavy haulage company based at Raleigh, south of Coffs Harbour, has found itself in trouble with the law again.
BPE Contractors offers a range of services, from earthmoving to heavy haulage.
The company is currently working on clearing the Waterfall Way which has been impacted by several landslips in the recent downpours.
Their trucks have also been employed to move large boats at Harwood Marine.
Manager Tyler Pemberton fronted Coffs Harbour Local Court on behalf of the company.
Magistrate Ian Rodgers told the court the offence under the Road Transport Act was “effectively driving a heavy vehicle with a defect”.
On October 17 last year a heavy vehicle associated with the company was stopped and defects found on the brakes of the trailer being towed and the operating lights.
Mr Pemberton told the court the trailer was hired from Brisbane and was “not one of ours” .
In considering the matter, Mr Rodgers told the court that the company’s track record did not work in its favour having been prosecuted on five separate occasions.
BPE Contractors was convicted and fined $1000 for the charge: cause etc use of dangerously defective heavy motor vehicle.
