Former police officer arrested at Port Macquarie on child abuse material charge

A young former police officer has been arrested at Port Macquarie charged with accessing child abuse material. Here’s what is known.

A 25-year-old man - a former police officer - was arrested at Port Macquarie today, charged with possession of child abuse material.

The arrest comes in the wake of an investigation by the Professional Standards Command.

Strike Force Marous began investigating the then serving officer attached to the Northern Region in December.

Following extensive inquiries, the man was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count of possess child abuse material.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Lismore Local Court on July 19.

The accused is no longer employed by the NSW Police Force.
