A Coffs Coast man has faced court after allegedly assaulting and intimidating a woman and arming himself with a serrated kitchen knife.

Jordan Close, 29, was arrested on Monday at Toormina, a suburb of Coffs Harbour, after a missing persons report was filed.

He was arrested at 2.30pm the same day and taken to a police station where he was subsequently charged with common assault, stalk and intimidate with intention to cause harm and being armed with a weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Police allege the domestic violence-related offences occurred between midnight and 1am that day.

Close briefly appeared in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Tuesday where he was denied bail.

He is scheduled to appear in the same court on October 15.
