A Coffs Harbour woman who allegedly had a “reaction” to a medical procedure and lashed out at two nurses will remain in custody.
Jessica Ellen McMahon, 24, was handcuffed when she appeared in the dock at Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday, facing two charges of common assault.
No pleas have been entered.
The court heard McMahon was on two sets of bail at the time of the alleged offending at a hospital in Port Macquarie on Monday.
Her lawyer Peter Hunter told the court McMahon had some sort of “reaction” when she attended hospital for a medical procedure on her foot.
Mr Hunter sought a release application for his client, who he said was living with a number of mental health issues and had no fixed abode.
Police Sergeant Will Amos opposed bail.
He told the court there was a “strong” prosecution case and multiple witnesses to the alleged assaults.
Sgt Amos said McMahon fail to appear for multiple matters in the past.
Magistrate Julia Virgo said the police allegations indicated “a very serious matter of assault” against the two nurses.
Ms Virgo said there were insufficient conditions to mitigate the risk of granting bail.
The release application was refused and the case was adjourned to Port Macquarie Local Court on November 22.
