A young Coffs Harbour man is accused of preying on intoxicated women at the Coast Hotel – allegedly luring them to a nearby carpark with an offer of a lift home then raping them.

Faridoon Khaksar, 22, is facing two charges of sexual intercourse without consent and one charge of sexual touching another person without consent.

According to court documents, Khaksar is an Afghan refugee and mechanic who lives with family members not far from the Coast Hotel.

The allegations relate to two separate alleged female victims – on different dates in April and October of this year – who had both been drinking at the Coast Hotel on the Pacific Highway in the Coffs Harbour CBD.

Documents tendered to the court say he offered to give the women a lift home in his Holden Commodore and when they arrived at a nearby carpark he had sexual intercourse with them without their consent.

After one alleged incident he declined to take the woman home but instead returned her to the hotel, and another time he allegedly called a friend to take the woman home.

According to police facts tendered to the court, Khaksar was on bail at the time of the second alleged offence but this was revoked on October 13 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

His lawyer argued Khaksar should be given bail to live at home with the support of his brother and sister.

Court documents also outline the strength of the prosecution case, and the serious nature of the charges which carry a maximum term of 14 years’ imprisonment.

Khaksar has been remanded in custody to the Clarence Correctional Centre.

The matter has been adjourned to November 29.
