A 24-year-old man from Nambucca Heads stands accused of a number of shocking assaults - one allegedly involved punching his brother’s pregnant wife in the stomach and throwing her into a doorway.

Corey William Temple allegedly turned on the woman after she came to the aid of his brother.

Police prosecutor Kylie Banks told the court Temple’s brother sustained injuries to his jaw and that Temple continued to hit his brother even while he was unconscious.

Temple’s father who was in Coffs Harbour Court on Tuesday, October 18, in support of his accused son, jumped to his feet and said “at no point was (his brother) unconscious”.

After asking Temple’s father to take a seat and remain quiet, his lawyer told the court they would be disputing the particular allegation.

In arguing for bail, his lawyer told the court Temple, a qualified concreter, had strong ties with the community and had recently been reconciled with his siblings and had the full support of his father.

The court heard both drugs and alcohol were involved in the alleged offending and if granted bail, Temple would agree to abstain from both, with the support of his father.

Magistrate Ian Rodgers told the court Temple was charged with two sets of offences and had been granted bail on September 2 in relation to the first incident alleged to have taken place in Port Macquarie the day before.

Then, just days after being released on bail, on September 5 in Nambucca Heads, he was alleged to have perpetrated a second set of offences.

No pleas have formally been entered.

In relation to the alleged Port Macquarie incident he has been charged with destroy or damage property (domestic violence); contravene a prohibition/restriction in an apprehended domestic violence order; destroy or damage property (domestic violence); and contravene a prohibition/restriction in an apprehended domestic violence order.

In relation to the alleged Nambucca Heads incident he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence) and common assault (domestic violence).

Temple blew kisses to his father as he was refused bail and the matter adjourned to November 3.
