With a multistorey hotel already proposed for the top of Coffs Central, more plans have been revealed for the site.
The 92-room hotel will include a pool and restaurant.
Now the owners of the shopping centre, Gowings Brothers Pty Ltd, have submitted plans to Coffs Harbour City Council to establish a cafe/bar in the food court near The Depot.
Known as Ebb n Flow, trading hours will be from 6am to 11pm seven days a week.
Initial plans are for the cafe component with the liquor licence to come later.
A number of major developments are in the pipeline for the CBD including the C.ex Group’s $44m high rise.
The City Boulevard and an adjoining building currently tenanted by Dollars and Sense would be demolished to make way for the 13-storey mixed-use residential building, aimed at accommodating for an ageing population.
The CBD, with its vacant shopfronts and pockets of anti-social behaviour, has been a problem area for years.
In recent weeks photos of drug paraphernalia left littering public toilets has brought renewed calls for the area to be revitalised.
Coffs Harbour City Council has undertaken a number of initiatives in an attempt to revitalise the area including redevelopment of the City Square with night-time lighting and new paved areas.
Gowings also own the prime jetty block on the corner of Harbour Dr and Hood St where the old Forestry headquarters building once stood.
Plans for this site include a range of apartments with sweeping views of the coast, sitting over a commercial and retail base with a large public courtyard and garden.
