Tributes pour in for Edward Abel after tragic Corindi Beach crash

An outpouring of love and support has flowed in for a North Coast Man, whose young life was tragically taken in a freak crash at Corindi. He left behind a loving a wife and child in Vanuatu.

Tributes have poured in for Edward “Ed” Abel, 27, who tragically lost his life after a freak crash at Corindi Beach.

The Vanuatu-born man tragically left behind a wife and a daughter in Vanuatu.

A close friend, Florina Tueila, 31, who said he was deeply loved.

“He was a really good guy, he always liked to have fun,” Ms Tueila said.

Ms Tueila said she and her friends “can’t stop crying” after the tragedy.

“I’m very heartbroken, it’s so hard for us right now, ”she said.

Ms Tueila recognised the outpouring of love and support from the Corindi community, with residents cooking fresh meals and sending flowers to Mr Abel’s grieving family.

“I really appreciate the community. It’s my first time in Australia, everyone has been loving,” Ms Tueila said.

She said Ed was always smiling and laughing, nothing fazed him and he always saw the positive in every situation.

“He never got upset – instead he would make people laugh and see the funny side,” Ms Tueila said.

She said Ed had a cheeky side, and loved his friends and close ones dearly.

Ed grew up in Vanuatu but had lived in the area for about two years.

He met Ms Tueila last year and the pair became good friends.

Ed worked at a nearby berry farm and Martin Kellahan, Director at Australian Farm Workers said he will miss Ed’s “forever smile”.

“Ed will be forever missed by me and the others that you touched with your warmth and persona, You were like a son to me,” Mr Kellahan said.

Rob Nics from Australian Farm Workers said Ed was his “go-to-guy” on Facebook.

“Ed had an amazing attitude, he was always helpful. You quickly became my brother. Always close to my heart. I will not forgive that hug you gave me before you left,” Mr Nics said.

Community members rallied together to buy groceries, cook meals and are preparing a GoFundMe page for a family who lost a beautiful life far too soon.
