A man with a “record of violence” has been ordered to stay sober after a string of incidents over two nights, a court heard.

Randall Thomas Green, 33, of Nambucca Heads, fronted Macksville Local Court on Thursday when he was convicted of larceny, common assault, two charges of destroy or damage property and apprehended violence order breaches.

According to police facts, Green punched a woman in the forehead and dragged her by the hair out the front door at a Macksville address.

He then punched her twice more, and police allege they found a clump of hair on the verandah which had come from the victim.

Green had also punched a hole through a wall in the lounge room.

Randall Thomas Green was convicted and sentenced to a 10-month intensive corrections order on a string of charges when he appeared at Macksville Local Court on May 19, 2022.

On April 5, just before 7pm, Green took a one-litre bottle of Jim Beam from a display stand at a Macksville liquor shop, hid it on his person, and left without paying for it, according to police facts.

Some two hours later, a police radio operator heard “shouting” when a call for help was made, after Green had taken a car without permission from a Macksville address, and returned and smashed a window at the residence.

Three days later, Green was arrested.

His lawyer said Green “is remorseful” and understood the link between his consumption of alcohol and offending.

Magistrate Nash said: “You do have a record of violence.”

“If you take the alcohol away the offending doesn’t happen.”

Green, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to a 10-month intensive corrections order with the stipulation that he does not drink alcohol during that time.
