Bayden William King pleaded guilty to driving with a high-range prescribed concentration of alcohol – second offence when he faced Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday.
Police directed King, who was driving a Ford Laser travelling on Albany St just before midnight on October 21, to stop for a random breath test.
The vehicle pulled over in Curacoa St, and King blew positive to the roadside test.
A subsequent breath analysis at the police station returned a reading of 0.162 – more than three times the legal limit.
The 30-year-old labourer told officers he’d drunk just “two glasses of chardonnay” at home between 6-7pm that day.
But officers considered him to be “well affected” by alcohol at the time, police state in court documents.
Magistrate Julia Virgo adjourned the case for sentencing on October 29.
