A REBELS bikie and two “associates” have been arrested over the alleged bashing murder of a man on the Central Coast at a services station earlier this year, allegedly after the victim threatened a bikie’s girlfriend.
Clint David Starkey, 42, arrived at Gosford Hospital with serious head injuries about midnight on Thursday, April 6 and despite being flown to the Royal North Shore Hospital died of his injuries on June 12.
Police allege CCTV footage shot from a Peats Ridge Caltex service station showed Starkey being attacked and beaten by four men.
The footage showed the lead-up to the incident with police suggesting at least four people were directly involved in the attack. Others played various roles in planning it and cleaning up the scene.
At the time, emergency department staff said the victim’s injuries were so severe they thought he’d been beaten with an axe.
Following the alleged attack, detectives commenced a large-scale investigation into the incident.
It’s alleged Starkey, a known drug dealer linked to the Central Coast chapter of the Rebels, had become involved in a dispute with one of the bikies and then also threatened his girlfriend.
The chapter’s Sergeant-at-Arms Adam David Symonds, 36, has already been charged with murder and is due to face court tomorrow.
Police allege Strakey was tricked into a meeting at the Peats Ridge service station. When he arrived up to four men were waiting for him and attacked.
In October the Gang Squad’s Strike Force Raptor and the Riot Squad arrested senior Rebel Symons.
Today, police charged a 29-year-old Davistown man, a 25-year-old man and a 25-year-old Woy Woy man.
They said charges are expected to be laid against those three later today.
All up, seven people have now been arrested over the alleged bashing.
