A FORMER chapter president of the Rebels bikie gang has been charged with attempting to smuggle drugs inside court documents.
Matthew Christopher Rymer, 34, a high-ranking member of the Rebels bike gang’s Liverpool chapter, applied for and was refused bail in Penrith Local Court today after he was arrested on charges of trying to smuggle drugs into a prison.
Police will allege during a trial held at Sydney’s Downing Centre District Court Rymer placed 5.05g of the drug Xanax inside court documents so they could be passed onto an inmate.
He is now facing charges of suppling prohibited drugs, unlawfully secreting a thing for it to be found by an inmate and possession of a prohibited drug.
He is scheduled to reappear before Penrith Local Court next week.
Bikie task force Strike Force Raptor on Wednesday arrested Rymer at his Emu Plains home, and charged him with suppling prohibited drugs, unlawfully secreting a thing for it to be found by an inmate and possession of a prohibited drug.
It’s the second blow to the Rebels today, with a member of the bikie gang arrested at 6am this morning over the 2013 murder of another member Johnny Salafia on the South Coast.
