A crook broke into luxe hotel Raes on Wategos in the middle of Byron Bay and nabbed a bag of seafood as well as several knives, brazenly flipping off CCTV as he made himself a meal.
Paul Christopher Campbell faced Byron Bay Local Court over videolink from prison on Monday.
The 41-year-old man pleaded guilty to breaking and entering a building to commit a serious offence.

Campbell broke into the hotel on Marine Parade at Byron about 3.30am on March 13.
“While at the property he stole a bag of prawns and several knives, which was the property of Raes on Wategos, owned by Antony Catalano,” police state in court documents.
The “prawns” described in the documents were actually the hotel’s “world-class lobster tails”, a source connected to the hotel said.

“He also helped himself to some Japanese whiskey that he drank and put back with the label facing forward – definitely ex-hospo.”
Campbell entered a late guilty plea and told the court: “Now I know how the law operates, so I’m pleading guilty.”
The case has been adjourned to October 2.
