Once a legendary venue attracting partygoers all across the globe, Cheeky Monkey’s closed its doors in 2020 due to Covid. Relive the memories from an unforgettable Byron era.

Do's and don'ts for overseas travel

Known for table-dancing, backpackers and beer, Cheeky Monkey’s was once a buzzing bar and nightclub in Byron Bay’s heart.

Its doors were closed in 2020 due to Covid, but was repurchased last year by Justin Hemmes who just last week hosted a 4,500 person party at Sydney hotspot The Ivy.

Cheeky Monkey’s also built a reputation for its violence, when it was featured on a 2013 list of most violent venues in NSW.

The infamous drinking hole made global news after Belgian backpacker Theo Hayez went missing after a night out at the popular venue.

But for locals, it was best known as a spot for a good time and the memories you may (or may not) remember.
