Harrison William John Quinn on domestic AVO charge at Byron Bay

A man who tried to connect with his former partner - using different aliases on social media - has been convicted of breaching a domestic apprehended violence order (AVO).

Harrison William John Quinn, 24, appeared at Byron Bay courthouse on Monday, pleading guilty to breaking a domestic AVO order imposed on July19 by his ex-partner.

Quinn was charged on July 29 with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic) and utilising a carriage service to menace/harass/offend his ex-partner.

Police documents state Quinn broke the domestic AVO order by contacting his former partner, making five phone calls to her from a no caller ID number.

When the woman answered these calls, she heard heavy breathing, according to police facts.

His ex-partner reported the calls, and they were traced back t0 Quinn’s personal phone number.

According to police facts, Quinn was unemployed and sent 13 ‘follow’ requests on numerous social media platforms to his ex, with messages contained within the usernames.

Some of the username handles included ‘homelessjoblessloser’, ‘Imbrokenandbr0keplz’, ‘lostmyjobcozofyou’ and ‘notmyfaultiloveu’, according to police facts.

On August 2, Quinn was arrested by Byron Bay police.

Magistrate J Linden convicted Quinn and ordered that he complete 18 months of community service, and be of good behaviour for two years. He was also fined $500.
