Harrowing CCTV captured the moment two teenagers were flung from a car and killed in Western Sydney as two older men climbed from the wreckage, surveyed the horror and fled.

Mates Kaine Bell, 14, and Braydan Collier, 13, died instantly when the silver Ford sedan they were in slammed into a telegraph pole on Maxwell Ave, Ashcroft, just before 11am Monday.

Braydan had only celebrated his 13th birthday on Sunday before he died in the front yard of a stranger’s home amidst the wreckage of a car that completely split in two under the impact.

The men police are still hunting had played surrogate big brother roles in the lives of the two teenagers but were captured on CCTV stepping over their bodies, before one yells “I wanna go home” and running away.

Nicholas Thew and Anthony Morris, the two men in the front seat, remained on the run Monday night.

Nicholas’ sibling told The Daily Telegraph of his family’s horror at the incident, explaining how he and his mother had taken Braydan and Kaine “under their wing”.

“Mum’s more worried about the two little boys, she tried to take them under her wing, she took Kaine and Braydan under her wing even though she struggles herself … and now, we can’t do nothing,” he said.

“They’re little ones I took under my wing to keep out of trouble, but I haven’t seen them for two days and look where they are now.

“My younger brother went around there and identified them. I’m heartbroken.”

Police estimate the car was travelling at least 50 km/h over the speed limit at the moment it crashed, with the moment of impact seeing the car break in two and one of the boys’ bodies flung out of the vehicle.

Moments after the crash an adult male manages to pull himself from the front seat, before running through the front yard to where the back half of the wreckage sits.

Walking past the body of one child he then pulls a second boy from the wreckage, before pushing him onto the ground and running back to free another young adult who was in the front seat with him.

He then returned to check on the second boy, before putting his hands on his head and fleeing the scene.

Locals ran to try and help the youths, before covering their bodies with blankets when they were unable to do so.

NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden described the scene as “absolute destruction”.

“The vehicle has lost control, has impacted with a telegraph pole, causing the Falcon to be separated in half,” Asst Comm McFadden said.

“Unfortunately, we believe that two males seated in the rear of the vehicle, aged between 10 and 15, were ejected from the vehicle and are deceased.

“A male driver and a male front-seat passenger have fled the scene on foot, and there’s now a concerted effort with combined resources from our commands supported by our aviation branch and the dog squad to identify and locate the driver and the front-seat passenger.

“Just from seeing the scene from the side of the road looking at the absolute destruction that’s taken place to this vehicle and the loss of two young lives being ejected from that vehicle, anyone who would have witnessed that crash will no doubt be traumatised by it.”
