Sickening vision has captured the moment an adult driver callously discarded the body of a dead child onto the ground in the aftermath of a horror crash in Sydney’s west.
The speeding Ford was cut in half as it crashed into a tree in the front yard of a home at Ashcroft at 10am.
CCTV — which is too graphic to show — captured the bodies of the two children, believed to be aged between 10 and 15, lying on the front yard.
At least one of the boys was flung from the back of the car in the crash, police say.
Moments after the crash, an adult manages to pull himself from the driver’s seat, before running around to where the back half of the car sits.
Walking past the body of one child which is lying on the ground, he then pulls a second boy from the wreckage, before pushing him onto the ground, and running back to free another young adult who was in the front seat with him.
He then returns to check on the other child who had been thrown from the car, before putting his hands on his head and fleeing the scene.
Locals then run to try to help the youths, before covering their bodies with blankets when they are unable to do so.
Police have revealed sickening details of the single-vehicle crash which cleaved the car in two on impact about 11am Monday.
The two dead boys — believed to be aged between 10 and 15 — were sitting in the rear seats of the car before at least one was “ejected” from the vehicle, Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden has confirmed.
They are yet to be formally identified.
The driver and other passenger from the car, which police say was travelling more than 50km/h over the speed limit before the crash, are still on the loose.
Emergency services were called to Maxwells Ave at Ashcroft just before 11am on Monday.
“The vehicle has lost control, has impacted with a telegraph pole, causing the Falcon to be separated in half,” Assistant Commissioner McFadden said.
“Unfortunately, we believe that two males seated in the rear of the vehicle, aged between 10 and 15, were ejected from the vehicle and are deceased.
“A male driver and a male front-seat passenger have fled the scene on foot, and there’s now a concerted effort with combined resources from our commands supported by our aviation branch and the dog squad to identify and locate the driver and the front-seat passenger.”
The Assistant Commissioner said the driver exceeded speeds of more than 50km/h over the limit.
He described the scene as “absolute destruction”, and urged anyone who witnessed the traumatic crash to seek support and contact officers.
“Just from seeing the scene from the side of the road looking at the absolute destruction that’s taken place to this vehicle and the loss of two young lives being ejected from that vehicle, anyone who would have witnessed that crash will no doubt be traumatised by it,” he said.
“So there’s a number of witnesses we’re engaging with at the moment. And we provide a level of support to them and their families as they provide their accounts to us.”
Assistant Commissioner McFadden also believes the driver and passenger still at large are both male.
CHOPPER JOINS SEARCH
A police helicopter circled the immediate area around the crash site broadcasting to residents via loudspeaker.
The message from the chopper explains police are looking for two males, one aged 18 to 20 years old in a yellow shirt, and the other dressed in black.
Photos of the crash show the car was torn in half.
“The car is in two pieces — one part is still wrapped around the tree and the other half on the doorstep of the house,” Helen El-cheikh said on Facebook.
Witnesses told Channel 9 the scene was “absolute carnage”, with the car in two pieces and debris littered everywhere.
Neighbours also claimed to see a driver and passenger “looking dazed and confused” after the crash, and then saying, “let’s go, let’s run”.
Residents said they were “rattled” and felt “physically sick”.
Police have set up a crime scene, which will be forensically examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
There have been no reports of other injuries or vehicles involved at this time.
Anyone with information into the incident or dashcam footage is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
