THE downfall of Australia’s outlaw motorcycle gangs can be traced back to a single man’s entry to bikie subculture.
Hassan “Sam” Ibrahim was a figurehead around Kings Cross in the mid-1990s, specifically the nightclubs and strip clubs where drugs were sold freely on the streets.
According to police intelligence, obtained by The Sunday Telegraph, Ibrahim was scouted by the Nomads and recruited to their Sydney West Chapter in 1998. From there, he rose quickly to the rank of vice-president.
Ibrahim’s influence changed the gangs forever — even according to his own brother John — and the transformation, police say, resulted in the formation of Strike Force Raptor, and eventually their downfall.
