A 97-year-old woman has died from injuries sustained in a crash on the Pacific Motorway near Ballina.

A woman has died after being involved in a serious crash last week in the state’s north.
Police are continuing their investigation after a car filled with four people crashed into a tree near Ballina - resulting in the tragic death of a 97-year-old woman.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.15pm after reports of a crash on the Pacific Motorway at Tintenbar, near Ballina on Wednesday, December 18.
The woman was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
The elderly woman, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, suffered chest and leg injuries yet unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and died later that day, police now state.
The driver of the car, a 35-year-old woman, was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for minor injuries. She underwent mandatory testing, police state.
The two teenagers in the rear of the vehicle aged 15 and 16 were treated for minor injuries.
Inquiries are continuing and police from Richmond Police District will prepare a report for the information of the coroner.
