OPINION: Make Valentine's Day a special one

I WILL say from the start that I haven’t got caught up in all the fuss over Valentine’s Day.

That said, I know it does present the opportunity for you to tell your true love how you feel about them and any chance should be one you grab with both hands.

Many of us are guilty of rarely telling our partner our true feelings.

Here is a suggestion if you do want to make the day special, but don't want to follow the American example and go out and just spend a fortune on flowers and gifts.

Sit down and write her or him a love letter.

I received a press release yesterday talking about a "love letter" survey that Pilot Pen Australia undertook.

It revealed that of 1000 people they polled 700 of them had written one to a love in their life.

It certainly reveals that in spite of the rise of new technology, a good old-fashioned love letter still has its place in society.

To help you along the way here are some famous lines from just two love letters:

Valentine's Day falls on Sunday, February 14, so you have plenty of time to compose your letter, and a small tip; make sure it is handwritten.
