Jon English: Sad goodbye to a very kind man

JON English was not a person you could forget easily.

I remember interviewing the rock icon back in 2012 when he brought his show, titled Rock Revolution, to the Brolga Theatre.

I was there to see the show in person and the selection of talent that Jon chose for his shows, as well as his own on-stage charisma, was unbelievable.

Yesterday I was deeply saddened to hear that he had died during surgery.

Talking to him all those years ago I could tell how enthusiastic he was and how much he really did enjoy bringing the show to life.

One thing I remember especially clearly was how full of praise Jon was for the young performers who were an important part of his productions.

Each of the talented youngsters could perform multiple instruments and could sing like the dickens and the loveliest thing about Jon was that he certainly wasn't afraid to give them the praise they deserved.

At the time he told me about some of the new faces that were part of Rock Revolution.

"After three years, some of the original cast decided it was time to move on to other things, which is of course great for them, but it's also great for me to be able to give other young artists the chance to shine and experience performing in a live touring show," he said.

I can say that Rock Revolution was one of the best productions I have seen in our area.

Jon, you'll be missed.
