Dozens of stylish new townhouses with ocean views are on the table for a small town in the Ballina Shire.
The development is slated for Skennars Head, which is nestled between Lennox Head and Ballina and is well-known for its scenic walks and secluded beaches.
Intrapac Property recently lodged a development application proposing 25 new townhouses on Aureus Bvd.
The site overlooks Sharpes Beach and currently houses a sales office, which would need to be demolished.
The townhouses are designed to be complementary to the nearby dwellings to provide a “cohesive coastal character” for the Aureus Estate, the application states.
“While providing a consistency in form, materials and colours the development is strongly articulated to break up the building bulk and provide a high degree of visual diversity,” it reads.
The development is set to cost $21,405,320, with plans to include 13 three-bedroom homes and 12 four-bedroom dwellings, all with double garages.
Two private schools, one primary and one secondary, along with easy access to expansive coastal park areas are located nearby.
The townhouses will be configured in two primary buildings, with an accessway between the two.
The site has an area of 6870sq m and will comply with the maximum building height of 8.5m.
There will be a one-way loop access road and five visitor car parks nearby.
It is not yet clear if these houses will be classified as affordable in the midst of the North Coast housing crisis.
