CENTRAL Australia’s Glen Helen Lodge will undergo a multimillion-dollar transformation once it reopens, after Australia’s largest regional accommodation provider bought the business.
New owners the G’Day Group, the umbrella company for Discovery Parks, have multimillion-dollar plans to develop the property over the coming years, which closed in 2020 due to effects felt from Covid-19.

It is the only accommodation within the West MacDonnell Ranges National Park.
Under consideration is an infinity pool, glamping tents, modern cabins and a restaurant with a viewing deck that looks over Glen Helen Gorge.
The G’day Group is currently recruiting for hospitality staff with the property employing around 20 people, with an extra 80 jobs created during the construction period in 2023.
Where possible, the G’day Group will employ locals and contract local businesses.
It follows the acquisition of iconic tourism assets El Questro in Western Australia and Kings Canyon Resort in the Northern Territory from global hospitality company Delaware North, as part of a $60 million buying spree.
With the latter two business traditionally reliant upon international visitors, the move indicates the G’day Group’s confidence in a strong rebound for inbound tourism once borders reopen.
G’day Group chief executive Grant Wilckens said the company had been investing heavily in Northern Australia.
“From the $10 million upgrade we have planned for Broome, through to our Kununurra property and recent acquisitions of El Questro, Kings Canyon and Glen Helen Lodge, we have a strong presence across some of the most spectacular landscapes Australia has to offer,” he said.
“Glen Helen has a rich history, and after we enhance the experience on offer, more people will appreciate its beauty and significance,” said Grant.
The planned Kings Canyon resort upgrade – announced in February, will create 120 jobs during construction and an additional 60 ongoing positions.
The G’day Group is Australia’s largest regional accommodation provider with almost 300 properties across Australia.
