Stripper guilty of glassing Neighbours star

STRIPPERS, adult models, private dancers and beauty queens are not always above the law. Here are some of the Gold Coast entertainers who have ended up in court in recent months.

DANIELLE LEE

A GOLD Coast stripper accused of glassing a Neighbours TV actor claimed she was the subject of a verbal tirade that included her being called a “dirty s---” and a “piece of s---”.

Danielle Lee was found guilty of assault occasioning bodily harm in October last year after a two-day trial in the Southport Magistrates Court.

Lee threw a glass at actor Scott McGregor on April 6, 2019 while working as a stripper at Hollywood Showgirls in Surfers Paradise.

He needed three stitches.

During the trial, Lee claimed she approached the TV star to “make small talk” and he was extremely rude to her.

“He called me a dirty s---. He said ‘f--- off you dirty s---’ … just like the way he looked at me, like he was looking down … he said ‘I would never take you’,” she said.

Mr McGregor denied he was ever rude to Lee and said he had only politely declined a private dance.

Magistrate Mark Howden found that Mr McGregor had insulted Lee but that Lee’s reaction in throwing the glass was “unreasonable”.

He sentenced her to a $1000 good behaviour bond for 18 months.

Lee was also ordered to pay $80 for Mr McGregor’s medical bills.

TORI DARRINGTON

A SELF-DESCRIBED “private dancer” was in hot water when she punched her flatmate’s mother in the neck.

It was the second time in less than two years that Tori Uila Darrington, 23, faced court on assault charges.

The dancer pleaded guilty to common assault in Southport Magistrates Court in January last year and was fined $1000. No conviction was recorded.

Darrington’s Instagram at the time had more than 12,000 followers and links to a subscription site featuring sexually explicit videos.

She appears to have since deleted her social media accounts.

Darrington was studying law and frequently travelled overseas and to Melbourne and Sydney to dance.

GILBERT ROY KELK

A FAKE high-end stripper threatened to “out” a Gold Coast man as being gay and a paedophile if he did not pay extortion money after an online sex date went wrong, a court was told.

Gilbert Roy Kelk pleaded guilty in the Southport District Court in September last year to three counts of demanding property with menaces.

Claiming he was a high-end stripper, the 55-year-old hooked up with a man on a dating site.

The pair also exchanged explicit text messages that included mention of young boys.

After the pair slept together, they argued and Kelk was kicked out of the other man’s home.

Kelk told the man he would tell police he had an interest in young boys with the text messages as proof if he was not paid in cash.

Judge Paul Smith sentenced Kelk to nine months in prison, suspended with the time in custody declared.

AZZRA HUGHES

IN 2019, former Playboy model Azzra Hughes was caught multiple times with small amounts of drugs, including cocaine, in her possession.

When she appeared in court in January this year, she vowed to clean up her act and even spoke of having aspirations to become the next prime minister.

She had been caught four times in 18 months for drug-related charges.

However, she has never had a conviction recorded against her.

The former model, who has more than 7000 followers on her Instagram account, has not been in trouble since appearing in court in January.

Hughes regularly posts model glamour shots on social media and describes herself as an adoption ambassador for the Animal Welfare League.

ADAM STEFAN BROWNER

A BODYBUILDER who has modelled for Calvin Klein was caught with a stash of steroids at his home.

Adam Stefan Browner, who won a title at the 2011 IFBB Australian Championships, pleaded guilty in the Southport Magistrates Court in August last year to seven counts of drug possession.

He had 44.5g of steroids inside his Labrador home in pill and liquid forms.

Mr Smith said Browner began bodybuilding at 22 and turned to steroids as his obsession for his physique grew.

Browner previously worked as a personal trainer and nutritionist. He was fined $2000. No conviction was recorded.

MARIA DELOSANGELES HORIGOME

A GOLD Coast beauty queen stabbed a man in the arm after a fight over the quality of a massage she received at their Southport parlour.

Maria Delosangeles Horigome, 37, pleaded guilty in the Southport District Court in April last year to wounding.

The court was told Horigome had been to the Australia Fair massage parlour for work on her shoulder in 2018 and was not happy with the massage she received.

She became angry and stabbed the owner with a knife she kept in her handbag.

Judge David Kent sentenced Horigome to 18 months in prison with immediate release on parole.
