Beauty queen Maria Delosangeles Horigome stabs man in arm over the quality of her massage in Southport

A Gold Coast beauty queen stabbed a man in the arm after a fight over something bizarre at a Southport parlour. She has fronted court.

A GOLD Coast beauty queen stabbed a man in the arm after a fight over the quality of a massage she received at their Southport parlour.

Maria Delosangeles Horigome, 37, pleaded guilty in the Southport District Court yesterday to wounding.

The court was told Horigome had been to the Australia Fair massage parlour for work on her shoulder last year and was not happy with the massage she received.

Judge David Kent sentenced Horigome to 18 months prison with immediate release on parole.

Prior to the sentencing Judge Kent let the lawyers know he had previously received massages at the same parlour.

Crown prosecutor Matthew Hynes said Horigome argued with the massage parlour owner before leaving without paying.

“She reached into her handbag and stabbed him in the arm with a knife she had in her bag,” Mr Hynes said.

The court was told the wound was deep enough for the man to need both internal and external stitches.

“It was a flick knife but nevertheless we are not talking about a butter knife,” Mr Hynes said.

During the struggle Horigome received a fractured nose which has affected her ability to work as a model and take part in beauty pageants.

At the time of the attack Horigome was suffering from mental health issues which affected her ability to react to stressful situations, the court was told.

Horigome, who was born in Tokyo, is a beauty queen and was last year a Miss National Australia finalist.

Miss National Australia is a beauty pageant which focuses on culture and it’s cultural diversity and has no age or height limits.

She is also an aspiring singer and artist who operates under the stage name Mia Muze.

Horigome posted a shot of herself on Facebook in January wearing a bikini and a sash.

“Feels so strange to do a shot like this,” she wrote.

“I’m fairly Conservative with displaying my body, except this is the uniform on the great beaches of AU (Australia).”
