Police allege a man smashed his way into a Benowa medical centre before a member of the public caught him trying to enter the roof of a chemist at Parkwood while an alarm was sounding.
It’s alleged the man, 23, broke through a glass door to access the medical centre on Carrara St between midnight and 1.20am on Friday.
“A number of rooms of the business were entered, but it’s unclear what, if any, property was taken, a Gold Coast police spokeswoman said.
It’s alleged a member of the public contacted police about 3.40am when they spotted the man attempting to enter through the roof of the Olsen Ave chemist, believed to be Chempro Parkwood. An alarm was active at the time.
Police attended the chemist and allege they found the man nearby, who is believed to be “connected to be both incidents”
Investigations were ongoing later on Friday morning.
The 23-year-old has no fixed place of abode.
Chemist break-and-enters, robberies and ram raids are not uncommon on the Gold Coast, with multiple incidents reported across the city earlier this year.
In August, a Carrara chemist was robbed by a man wearing a surgical mask and wielding a knife.
