Billy Brownless says being in a relationship after years alone is “bloody hard work” as he marks a year of love with his partner.

Billy Brownless has marked a year of love, saying his partner Justine deserves a medal for putting up with him.

“We’re still together, believe it or not,” Brownless said.

“It’s been over a year, the poor thing I feel sorry for her, but she’s a good girl. She’s got her kids and I’ve got mine.

“When you’ve been single for a long time it’s bloody hard work. She deserves a medal.”

Geelong great Brownless has been spending more time in Melbourne owing to his work on Triple M and is gearing up to do Dry July.

The popular publican and father of four is chasing a three-peat — returning as the team captain of Geelong’s leading cancer fundraiser.

The Barwon Health Foundation Dry July ambassador wants to defend his title as leader of Dry July’s number one fundraising team in Australia for a third consecutive year.

His group ‘Billy’s Frothy Fund’ has raised $180,000 for Barwon Health’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre since it began in 2021.

“It’s not often I want to have something in common with Hawthorn but a three-peat, all in the name of cancer, would be nice,” said Brownless, whose mother passed away with breast cancer.

“I get a lot of people behind it and it doesn’t hurt to get off the grog for a month.

“You can buy a day off if you need to, you can buy a ‘Golden Ticket’, so that’s no excuse not to take part.”

Brownless is also chuffed that his youngest child, son Max, has been accepted to university.

He is studying engineering at RMIT.

“Very proud of him, he’s the first and only one to get into uni. It must have come from his mother,’’ Brownless said.
