Wonga Beach police assault: Two men charged at FNQ town
A gathering at an isolated town north of Cairns has ended in two men being charged over the serious assault of police officers responding to a noise complaint.

An alleged drunken gathering at an isolated town north of Cairns has ended in two men being charged over the serious assault of police officers responding to a noise complaint.
Police will allege on January 2 at 10.30pm officers were confronted by the resident of a Oleander St property at Wonga Beach and another man.
It’s alleged the two men became aggressive and armed themselves with weapons before officers withdrew from the house.
A 34-year-old Wonga Beach man was later located and arrested in a nearby park.
Police allege the man attempted to resist arrest.
He has been charged with two counts of serious assault police, one count each of assault police, obstruct police, drunk or disorderly in a licenced premise, possession of a knife in a public place.
A second 34-year-old Wonga Beach man was later arrested and charged with two counts of serious assault police.
Both were denied bail and will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today.
