A HORRIFIC video recorded on the streets of Edmonton has revealed a man being kneed, punched, kicked and having his head slammed into the ground in retaliation to the alleged assault of a young Cairns mother at a fast food restaurant.
The all-in bashing by an angry group of eight men outside the Mill Road KFC was inflicted on a 36-year-old Bentley Park man that police allege attacked 21-year-oldJunaid Vaele on Monday night.
The 36-year-old man was charged with three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm while affected by an intoxicating substance, one count of common assault while affected by an intoxicating substance, and one count of public nuisance.
But before being dealt with by the courts the video reveals immediate punishment in the form of an alleged frenzied and sustained attack before police arrived at the scene.
People can be seen chasing the 36-year-old before setting upon him on the median strip.
At one stage the man’s head can be seen being repeatedly smashed into a concrete gutter.
He was taken to Cairns Hospital suffering from head injuries, however Queensland Ambulance Service have no record of the journey.
Cairns police stated they had not received a complaint in regard to the incident as of Sunday afternoon.
Ms Vaele, who was left with a broken nose and facial stitches, said she had simply gone to KFC on Monday night to get some dinner for the kids.
“A complete random man spat in my mouth and punched me in the nose,” Ms Vaele said on Thursday.
“(There was) blood everywhere and blurred vision within an instant.
“I was beaten badly, but I took every blow to the face, nose and head.”
She said two KFC workers stepped in to assist her and her pregnant sister-in-law, before help arrived.
“Don’t know who they are, but I’m truly grateful, as I could tell, they were quite fearful of the man,” she said.
A Cairns Hospital spokesman said the man was discharged from the facility on Tuesday.
He is expected to appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court on October 12.
