Cairns Amateurs Fashions on the Field back with $30,000 in prizes

Cairns Amateurs Carnival Fashions on the Field is back but with a new category as $30,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs. See what else is on offer.

A WHOPPING $30,000 in prizes will be up for grabs at Cairns Amateurs Carnival Fashions on the Field competition next week with a new category also being added.

This year eight categories will run across two days from Friday September 9 to Saturday September 10. The familiar categories like Gold Class Racewear, Open Ladies Racewear, and Best Dressed couple will be back but this year there will also be the Carnival Champion category.

Fashions on the Field committee member Stacie Galeano said she was excited to see everyone dressed up in a relaxed but sophisticated way.

“I am expecting to see bold, block colours with vibrant prints,” she said.

“The hat is back in a big way, with big brims.”

The judges, racing icons, Emma Scodellaro and Hamish Lardi will crown the overall Carnival Champion in the two-day fashion stakes.

Fashion journalist and stylist Annabel Falco will help judge Ladies Day on Friday while Ladies in Racing publisher Cathryn Meredith will be on the panel on Saturday.

Cairns Central marketing manager Louise Struber said the city was buzzing with excitement in anticipation for this year’s racing season especially with new judges on-board.

“Annabel is admired Australia wide for her classic, signature style and pared back simplicity and she is destined to be a hit among the city’s fashion lovers both on and off the track,” she said.

Prizes from Laser Clinics Australia, Grill’d, Black Ivy, Collette, Myer Cairns, OPSM and Silk Laser will be available.
