The most improved schools across the Tweed have been revealed. SEE THE RESULTS

Relieving principal Genevieve Esgate said: “The reaction of the staff was one of pride, knowing that the well-planned systems and programs we have put in place are starting to show results.”

She said the success at Dungay can be attributed to the schools strong focus on student wellbeing and growth.

“Here at Dungay we have a really positive energy … our dedicated teachers build genuine rapport with their students who in turn love coming to school to learn,” Ms Esgate said.

“They provide consistent targeted learning routines for their students, have high expectations and provide regular feedback to help students become reflective learners who earn their success, as in this case they have done”.

Tyalgum Public School at Tyalgum was the second best with an increase of 8.85 per cent followed by Dungay Public School at Dungay with an increase of 7.54 per cent.

Meanwhile, Tweed Valley Adventist College in Murwillumbah recorded the biggest improvement for a secondary school with average year 9 NAPLAN results increasing by 5.13 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

Murwillumbah High School at Murwillumbah was the second best with a 3.6 per cent increase followed by Mount St Patrick College at Murwillumbah with an increase of 1.07 per cent.

The analysis compared the five year change in NAPLAN results from 2017 and 2021 and revealed the schools which have improved their Year 5 and Year 9 student scores the most.

It was calculated by each school‘s combined results for each NAPLAN subject in 2017 and compared to the same results in 2021.

Meanwhile, Uki Public School in Uki recorded the lowest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results returning a result of -4.72 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.

While, Wollumbin High School in Murwillumbah recorded the lowest improvement for a secondary school returning a result of -4.55 per cent over the past five years.
