'Where is it?': Mysterious disappearance of cult $2.80 ALDI product

"I'm trying to figure out how to live without it - it’s like magic."

You know when you find a holy-grail product, be it a tasty snack or a miracle shampoo, and you can't imagine your life without it?

Then, one day *poof*, you can no longer find it on the shelves, and it feels like your whole world has fallen apart in aisle three.

Not to be dramatic, but that's exactly how some ALDI shoppers are feeling this week after the mysterious disappearance of a beloved household item — the $2.79 Power Force Mould Remover.

The mysterious disappearance of the cult product

This seemingly humble cleaning product has gained a cult following among Aussies who use it in damp areas of their homes to tackle mould, especially in winter. 

A cleaner posted to Facebook this week, kicking off a group-wide frenzy. "I worked as a cleaner for the last three years, and it is by far the best for mould! Especially at that price point," they said.

"Is someone able to advise if this item is no longer being stocked? We’ve tried three ALDI stores and are mending a broken heart, trying to figure out how to live without it- it’s like magic," they added.

And soon enough, it became clear that others were also feeling a similar sense of grief over its disappearance.

"I am devo"

"I haven’t been able to get it for months. Hoping it’s a 're-brand' and will be back soon, lol," said one user.

Another wrote: "Oh no, this is the best! I hate when they discontinue good products in ALDI."

And a third disappointed customer admitted: "I am devo. I have searched as well. Nowhere."

"It’s the best. I can’t find it either here in Brisbane," revealed yet another shopper. 

So, where is it?!

Then some customers claiming to be in the know chimed in, offering potential theories as to where the item has gone.

"My son said it's a 'discontinued' line at the moment, it's been replaced by an alternative until they can get supply back," one woman whose son manages an ALDI said.

"He said, like the Windex or whatever their window cleaning product is (I buy real Windex in the 5L drum. from Big W..had it for years ).. it was replaced with a similar product and now it's back. So hang in there and keep your eyes open."

And someone else replied: "Manager of my local store said it's coming back he just doesn't know when. Hopefully it's soon."

An ALDI spokesperson said: "Our exclusive range of products are especially curated to deliver the absolute best quality at the lowest possible price and the enthusiasm customers have around the Power Force Mould Away Spray is a testament to this. This incredible product has been a customer favourite for many years and we can assure our customers it is certainly not discontinued."
