'Too rude': Bizarre reason mum won't let her kids watch Bluey

"She needs to calm down, this is way too sensitive," one person shared. Do you think some of the jokes are inappropriate?

Mum bans her kids from watching Bluey due to rude jokes

A woman has taken to a Bluey Fans Facebook group to share that her friend has banned her kids from watching Bluey, because, brace yourselves, it's apparently 'too rude'.

Yes, you read that right. Bluey, the epitome of family-friendly entertainment, allegedly has too many inappropriate jokes and she's worried now her children have started repeating them.

The woman explained, "A friend of mine told me her kids aren’t allowed to watch Bluey because of some rude jokes they learned that the kids said were from the show."

The 'rude' toilet joke and a classic prank to play on parents

The poster admits that she hasn't watched all the episodes or seen the jokes her friend references, so she asked the group to confirm whether or not they were, in fact, from the show (and if they thought they were rude or not.)

The first joke revolves around Australian toilet humour.

It goes like this: Jokester holds a loose fist with a thumb over it. The victim is asked to open the lid (thumb), put a finger in the fist, twirl it around and then shut the 'lid'. Jokester then says "Thanks for cleaning my toilet."

And then there's joke #two where Jokester says, 'What’s your name?'. Victim says 'mum'. Jokester points to nose and asks, 'What is this?' Victim says 'nose'. Jokester asks, 'What’s in your hand?' Victim says 'nothing. Jokester laughs and says ha! 'Mum nose nothing!'

The episode the jokes come from

The first prank is from season two, episode seven, 'Favourite Things'. In it, Bingo turns to her mum and goes through the series of commands, ending in, 'Thank you for cleaning my toilet!'

Chili is not amused, but laughs and pretends to clean off her 'dirty' finger.

It's all pretty light-hearted stuff.

As for the second gag, pretty sure this one's been around forever, as long as kids have had parents and parents have had kids. But for reference, it's also from the same episode 'Favourite Things'

In the scene, Bandit is changing a lightbulb in the bathroom, when Bingo comes in and pulls the prank on her dad.

Bandit then realises he's fallen for it and exclaims, 'Oh what?!' before giggling about it with Bingo.

"She needs to calm down"

Cue the collective gasps and chuckles from Bluey mums in the comments.

"SOMEONE ALERT THE CHURCHES," someone bantered.

Basically, everyone rallied in support of the show's innocence.

"Bluey is one of the most wholesome shows out there, what is she talking about?" one user remarked.

"She sounds like she's fun at parties, "a different person stated. "Some people are too sensitive," added another commenter.

Then another chimed in, "She needs to calm down. It's just a kids' show!"

"Oh no, the horror of playground jokes!" exclaimed a fourth, sarcastically. "What a kill joy - imagine taking away something a kid finds funny," they continued.

Then this mum said, "Man, kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore. I love Bluey because it’s so sweet and innocent compared to other shows!"

"My kid loves the toilet one and does it whenever he can't. It's not really rude, pretty tame if you ask me," shared one other mum.

"Each household has different rules and expectations"

On the other hand, some people agreed or at least empathised with the mum.

One person said, "My kids went around saying these jokes for years before I ever realised they were from Bluey. I thought the toilet one was hilarious, but I thought the 'mum knows nothing' one was disrespectful even if it was just a joke.

"I just told them it was rude and not to tell anyone that they know nothing anymore."

Then someone else wrote, "Some people have a more conservative sense of humour. There's nothing wrong with that, and no reason for people to become rude about it. Not everyone likes the same things."

"Each to their own, each household has different rules and expectations," another concluded.

Then someone else pointed out that context is everything, saying, "What's normal in Australia might seem rude to US folks and vice versa."

Then another mum wrote this, "While it’s hard to understand that people don’t see the value, emotional healing and growth offered in Bluey, sometimes we just have to respect that not everyone thinks the same. My friend said she thinks maybe she is just too serious for Bluey. 💙"

Another reason why someone doesn't want kids to watch the show

Finally, someone else added this, "I wish I was joking but my mother-in-law told my sister not to allow their children to watch Bluey because it gives them 'unrealistic expectations about how much parents should play with their children'…"
