But if you are concerned about the sugar content of chocolate eggs, a new study has taken the guesswork out of the process, and compiled a list of the chocolate eggs with the highest calorie and sugar content.
#1. Cadbury White Chocolate Buttons Egg
The big white chocolate easter egg filled with white chocolate buttons may be a great option for the family member who doesn’t love milk or dark chocolate, but contains 63 grams of sugar and 2239 kj of energy per 100g.
#2. Smarties Chocolate Egg
Another treat-filled egg, Nestle’s small milk chocolate egg filled with colourful smarties contains 62.5g of sugar and 2163 kj of energy per 100g.
#3. Kit Kat Chunky Easter Egg
KitKat eggs are often among everyone’s favourites. But the yummy smooth milk chocolate egg filled with KitKat chunky bars is also pretty high in sugar, containing 60.3g and 2162 kj of energy per 100g.
As for the egg with the most energy?
The Ferrero Rocher Golden Easter Egg
With 2570 kj per 100 grams, this egg has the most energy of those involved in the study. The recommended serving size is 20g, and Ferrero Rocher does encourage all consumers to consider their products as part of their own choices regarding a healthy diet and active lifestyle.
