The real reason Kim Kardashian didn’t enjoy celebrating her birthday with kids

"No one cares about my dreams," said the reality star.

Kim Kardashian doesn't want to spend her birthday with her kids

Television star, underwear mogul and single mum-of-four Kim Kardashian had a very disappointing birthday.

On the latest episode of her reality show The Kardashians, Kim has a moan to Kris Jenner about why exactly her big day was a let down.

“I thought for my birthday I'd have a day to myself,” Kim shares with her mum.

“But I was stuck doing everything that everyone else wanted to do. I was stuck watching YouTube unboxing videos on my birthday.”

"This is not what I wanted"

Kim goes on to tell Kris that she played in a FIFA tournament (presumably on a gaming device) and went to a kids' art and pottery studio called ‘Color Me Mine’.

“You should see the ugly thing I made -  like this is not what I wanted to be doing on my birthday.

“I need to sit my kids down and be like, ‘this isn't Mother's Day, this is my day!’ Do you think a mum wants to go to Color Me Mine one more time on her birthday? Whose birthday is it?”

As famous grand-momager Kris laughs along, Kim continues on about her birthday woes: “I was tortured! Just make me breakfast. That's a great birthday.”

In a follow-up confessional piece to camera a producer asks Kim what her perfect birthday would have been and Kim has quite the relatable mum come back.

“To lock my door, not get out of my bed and eat cookies and cream ice cream all day long.

“That's what would have been my dream. But no. No one cares about my dreams - not four kids at least.”

"She has more money than a bank"

While many parents, especially single parents, would relate to Kim’s honesty about wanting to spend her birthday alone in bed with ice cream, others in online forums felt differently.

“I don't get people who choose to have children and then complain endlessly about it,” wrote someone in a Reddit thread, who is clearly not a fan.

“I mean yeah watching kids is exhausting - I can't remember the last time I slept for more than five hours in a night or sat down at home for more than a half hour,” another more empathic Reddit user posted.

“But we're talking about someone who has more money than the bank.

"I'm sure she has a whole staff that takes care of her kids for her, drives them around, cooks them food. There's no way she's a full-time parent like us poors.”

"Enjoy every second"

Some of the  instagram comments went along similar lines.

"There will come a day (not far from now) and your beautiful babies will be gone,” wrote one sentimental user.

“Enjoy every second with them as you will miss them when it's just you and your ice cream.”

But there were other parents who could not agree more and appreciated Kim’s brutal honesty about the boredom of parenting and kid-centric activities.

“Sometimes mums just deserve to vent! Especially single mums,” said one Kim fan.

“These are exactly my thoughts on my birthday,” said another mum of four kids.

“We went to mini golf and all I wanted to do was lay in bed and watch Netflix and eat ice cream too! I've started resenting my birthday as a mum.

“The kids go out with their dad and buy me gifts ‘they want to get me’ not things I want. I want cash to go shopping, or a gift voucher to my favourite day spa! I definitely don't want to take four kids to mini golf and listen to them nag, cheat and fight for two long hours then get McDonald's.”

"Every mum feels this way"

One follower of the show noted that even wealthy celebrities need safe spaces to have a moan about parenting.

“Celebrity or not every mum feels this way and we as their sisters, mums and friends just need to let them VENT - without judgement.

“Which is what Kris is doing. Let’s take care of each other.”

Seems like sensible advice to me.
