'Take my money!': Kmart shopper shares genius use for baby bassinet

The $35 mini piece of furniture has been repurposed by an imaginative cat owner.

Kmart's 'buy of the year'

A woman has shared a photo online of her cat cosying up in a Kmart bassinet, and it's safe to say the internet is obsessed.

The miniature piece of furniture was originally designed for children to play pretend dolls but was imaginatively repurposed as a rocking cat bed.

Now, fellow feline owners have been running to the budget retailer to get their hands on one amid rumours they've been selling out in some stores.

"Found happiness"

The resourceful shopper took to the Target, Kmart and Big W Hacks Facebook page to share the nifty trick, which saw her repurpose the $35 Kmart Wooden Boucle Bassinet, $35, into a pet accessory.

Kmart's product description reads:  "Children will love to have a fun pretend play session with their dolls using this Wooden Boucle Bassinet playset."

But according to this cat owner, it's the perfect size for a furry friend.

The bassinet fits dolls up to 45cm tall, with the product dimensions being 36cm (H) x 55cm (W) x 39cm (D). So, while it might not be suitable for a larger cat, it could be the perfect place for a kitten (or two) to curl up for a snooze.

"Found happiness," the woman captioned her post.

"Running to Kmart"

Commenters loved this cute and affordable way to spoil their cats, with one user declaring, "Take my money!"

Another wrote, "Spoiled puss," while someone else added, "This is a brilliant idea."

"Need this," a different user stated while others said, "Running to Kmart," and "Going to get this now!"

"My ragdoll would love this. That is so cute," a different user shared.

"I'm going to buy two!" expressed one.

Then one woman asked if it was big enough for two cats and the author replied with a photo of her two kittens nestled in together... so that's a yes!

The author also updated her post to tell group members that if they wanted to stop the bassinet from rocking, assemble it so the wooden piece at the bottom is inverted.

Of course, it's always important to ensure your pet bed is safe and secure.

So, if you're thinking of following suit, ensure the bassinet is stable and that your cat cannot climb out and injure itself.
