South Australian man scores $4.8 million after dreaming winning numbers

A South Australian now believes in premonitions, after winning the lottery, and is delighted his family won’t have to look for “sales or deals” anymore.

A South Australian man has scored $4.8 million after the numbers appeared in a “vivid dream” where he’d won the lottery.

He has been playing the Set for Life game for years – buying a ticket every week – and said he always had a feeling he would win the division one prize.

The man from Edwardstown, Adelaide, admitted he now believes in premonitions following his multimillion-dollar win.

“Now, this is going to be hard to believe, but years ago, I dreamt the numbers I mark my tickets with, and I’ve been using them ever since,” he said.

“It was such a vivid dream, and in it, I used the numbers to play the lottery and then I won division one.

“It felt like a premonition. I’m not kidding. This isn’t made up. It really happened. It feels as though it was meant to be. It’s incredible.”

The dad checked his ticket while shopping for groceries and when the prize amount didn’t come up, he knew he had won big.

So he went straight to the head office and “couldn’t believe it” when they told him he had won division one.

“It’s so surreal. It’s an incredible win. This is life-changing for me,” he said.

As for the prize money, he and his wife plan to cut back on work or even retire.

“It means we don’t have to work anymore if we don’t want to. We will help out our kids as well, and the rest we will use to really enjoy life,” he said.

“We won’t be worried about looking out for the sales or deals. We’ll be able to do and buy exactly what we want, when we want, which is just great.”

As part of the Set for Life game, the $4.8 million prize is paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

The winning numbers in draw 2313 on Monday were 11, 1, 41, 43, 40, 44 and 42, while the supplementary numbers were 31 and 4.

This marks the 89th Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the 10th Set for Life division one winner so far this financial year.

In the 12 months to June 30, 2021, there were 16 Set for Life division one winners across Australia who will receive $76.8 million over the next 20 years.

By the end of the last financial year, $53.8 million in monthly payments of $20,000 had been paid to the 79 Set for Life division one winners across Australia since 2015.
