Cairns grandma to pay off house mortgage after Gold Lotto win
A Cairns grandmother is “in shock” after becoming the second Far Northerner in just a few days to win a life-changing division-one lottery prize.

A CAIRNS grandmother is more than half-a-million dollars richer after winning division one in Gold Lotto.
And she says she hasn’t slept since discovering the win on Saturday night.
“I am elated. I honestly can’t believe it,” she said.
The woman, who bought her ticket online, held one of 10 division-one winning entries, with each taking home $587,281.03.
She is the second Far Northerner in just a few days to land life-changing lottery wins after a Cairns man locked in $20,000 a month for 20 years with a Set for Life entry.
The latest winner said she intended to use her winnings to pay off the mortgage before Christmas.
“Then we will help our children, which will be such an amazing feeling,” she said.
“We will be able to relax and spend more time with the grandchildren.
“My husband and I have worked all our lives, so to have a big win like this is life-changing.”
The Far North has become known as a lottery hotspot in recent years, with two $40 million windfalls among the successes.
So far in 2021, there have been six division one wins in Far North Queensland, collectively worth more than $10.8 million.
