A video has gone viral showing a security guard at an LA Taco Bell slapping a woman across the face who refused to leave.

Footage of the shocking moment a Taco Bell security guard slapped an unruly customer across the face has gone viral, sparking outrage online.

The incident happened on February 9 at a downtown Los Angeles Taco Bell Cantina, which is a variety of the restaurant chain that is allowed to sell alcohol.

At the start of the clip, the unidentified woman and a security guard appear to be arguing before she makes a beeline towards the self-serve kiosk and starts ordering.

The security guard follows her and then pulls her away from the screen before coming face-to-face with the woman.

She tries to push him off her, and then he unleashes a brutal slap across her face.

“Oh s***,” someone is heard saying in the background.

“The security guard was telling her to leave and she didn’t want to because she was ordering food,” Alejandro Sanchez, who filmed the video, explained to SWNS.

“Then he just went off and she started going crazy,” he said.

“He slapped the s*** out of her. It was crazy. Everybody was shocked.”

However Mr Sanchez claimed that the restaurant’s staff were more concerned about him filming than the guard’s behaviour.

He also questioned whether or not the woman was targeted due to her “homeless” appearance.

Moments after the blow, the woman is seen cradling her face in shock and walks over to the other side of the restaurant to get away from the guard.

He follows her and the pair begin having another heated conversation, with the woman claiming she would sue.

She then repeatedly tells him to get away from her before the guard escorts her out of the doors.

Taco Bell is yet to issue a statement on the matter.

A coalition of African American leaders are calling for the security guard to be arrested and fired, according to FOX11.

“Our coalition of civil rights leaders are demanding accountability from Taco Bell leadership and want a meeting with CEO Sean Tresvant to discuss customer safety and improved security measures to ensure that customers aren’t assaulted by Taco Bell security along with the arrest and prosecution of the security guard responsible for the assault,” Najee Ali, Director of Project Islamic Hope, said in a statement.

“Our organisations have volunteers in search of the victim who may be homeless.”

There was a similar sentiment online after the video was posted to social media.

One person said the security guard was “dead wrong” while another wrote, “Poor woman, I feel sorry for her”.

“It shouldn’t matter what she did, she didn’t deserve being slapped in the face by a security guard,” remarked someone else.

“This is uncalled for,” voiced a different commenter.

Others also pointed out that no other customers tried to help the woman.
