One person has won $60 million Powerball jackpot

One lucky person has won a whopping $60 million in Powerball. And it still remains unclaimed. Check the numbers here to see if it was you.

Lotto: Tips and tricks that could win you millions

One person has won the $60 million Powerball jackpot after weeks where the top prize failed to go off.

But according to The Lott, the winner remains a mystery.

The numbers you needed were 7, 17, 11, 28, 30, 2, 27 and the powerball was 11.

Officials confirmed the sole winner was a “mystery” due to the fact the winning entry was not registered to a player card, but knew they lived in Melbourne.

The Lott is urging all Victorians who purchased an entry in tonight’s Powerball draw to check their ticket and make contact to claim their prize.

All that is known so far about where the ticket was sold is that the winning entry came from a Tatts outlet in inner Melbourne. More details are expected to be released on Friday.

The win is Victoria’s second-biggest ever lottery prize.

“Someone has become an overnight multi-millionaire just as the city’s lockdown ended but possibly doesn’t know it yet,” The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said in a statement.

“We can’t wait for them to discover this winning news. Just imagine how $60 million might change your life and the lives of your nearest and dearest.

“There are 60 million reasons why all Melbourne players who had an entry in tonight’s draw should check their ticket immediately.

“If you discover you’re holding the division one winning entry, hold on tight to that ticket and phone 131 868 as soon as possible so that we can start the prize claim process.”

In addition to the $60 million division one winner, there were more than 2.023 million winners across divisions two to nine in tonight’s Powerball draw who collectively took home more than $34.29 million.

So far this year, 12 Powerball division one wins have scored more than $410 million in prize money.

Winners have been concentrated along the nation’s eastern seaboard, with seven in NSW, four in Queensland, and one in Victoria.

A study of these division one winning entries shows half were PowerHit entries – an entry type unique to Powerball that guarantees the all-important Powerball number needed to win division one.

Nine of the 12 multimillion-dollar winning entries were QuickPick entries, where the lottery terminal randomly chose the numbers.

Only three wins were from a marked entry, where the player selected the numbers.

Matt Hart from The Lott said Thursday’s massive jackpot was the third time Powerball had offered a $60 million prize this year.

“The end of 2021 is fast approaching, but Powerball shows no signs of slowing down. We haven’t had any division one winners during the past five weeks, sending the multi-million-dollar jackpot higher and higher,” he said.

“One of this year’s memorable Powerball winners won $80 million and took home Australia’s biggest lottery prize so far this year. That jackpot went to a North Melbourne dad who had been working as a cleaner since he lost his job because of Covid-19 lockdowns.”

Looking at the division one wins so far this year, PowerHits have certainly featured prominently and helped deliver some massive windfalls, he said.

“To win division one in Powerball, you need to match all seven winning numbers, drawn from a barrel of 35 numbers, and the all-important Powerball number, drawn from a barrel of 20 numbers,” he said.

In the 12 months to June 30, 2021, Australians took home more than $3.62 billion from the lotto and other games.
