Mums go wild over Typo's X-rated Christmas decorations

A holly jolly Christmas, indeed! This year's cheeky range is by far the best according to shoppers.

Accidentally x-rated toys

It all started with an email sent at 8pm on a Thursday night. A message from Typo announcing this year's range of Christmas products.

"Warning! Festive energy inside 🎄," the subject read. So, naturally I clicked in under a second!

And there it was. The stationery and gifting store's annual offering of cheeky Christmas ornaments - intended only for those with a sense of humour.

Typo's X-rated Christmas decorations

The $8.99 resin ornaments have dropped online and in store now and the retailer boasts that they're designs "you can't find anywhere else."

They weren't lying. The range includes designed like a "sexy Rudolph" and "sexy Santa" with their, erm, bits covered by either a sticker or appropriately positioned present.

And then there are those that aren't censored at all. Like the decoration in the shape of a vibrator and a Santa sack in the shape of a penis. There's also a gingerbread man with the same kind of X-rated treatment, and a plate of cookies that reads "I put out for Santa."

Oh my eyes, people! MY EYES!

What do the people think?

While I was enjoying the bit of risqué fun (even if I still think that September is far too early to be thinking about Christmas), I decided to take some of the ornaments to the streets for a sense check.

By streets, I mean Christmas-themed Facebook groups, of course!

Within minutes of posting two images of the ornaments in Christmas Mums Australia, the excited comments came rushing through.

"Hello Kris Kringle," one of the first commenters wrote.

"Ha ha I think they are fantastic," another commented, while others just tagged their friends who they believed would want to know about the range.

Some people said they were getting them for their brothers, another said she was planning on gifting it to her mother-in-law and telling her it was "her son's idea".

Then came the die-hard fans who froth over the range each year.

"They get better every year!" one shopper insisted.

"I love them! I bought both to give to select people this festive season," another added.

Cheekier comments followed with "Santa only comes once a year" and "Merry Di**mas!"

OK OK, that's where we'll be leaving it for the sake of not letting things get toooooo out of hand here!

Surprisingly, of the hundreds of comments the post received, not one person wrote that they thought the range was inappropriate. It is a popular store for children after all, and Christmas is a religious celebration.

Just one person said they weren't going to be buying the range - but only because of little children around who will ask questions. Otherwise she was totally into it!

"I’m an empty nester and would totally get these except I have an 8-year-old niece and 13-year-old nephew but everyone else is 21+ so if it weren’t for them I’d buy these," she shared.

Typo causes a stir every Christmas

It's not the first time Typo has caused a stir with their Christmas decorations selection.

Back in 2020, an ornament of an elf holding a sign boasting "Santa isn't real" was pulled off the shelves amid massive backlash from shoppers.

“Hey mums and dads, just a warning as I was caught out today. The store typo/cotton on have horrible Christmas ornaments for sale that my child was able to read and ask me ‘is Santa real’”, a father shared in The Facebook group Christmas Mums and Dads Australia at the time.

“I tried to complain but didn’t get anywhere. I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to email/call/live chat and complain and get these things taken off the shelves.”

That year also had the famous Santa mooning and cat licking itself on offer - though they remained on shelves and have even made a comeback this year. But the elf was removed.

The incident hasn't stopped the store from releasing cheeky-themed Christmas decorations. Many people flock to the store to nab some of these items for a bit of festive fun each year and some are pleasantly surprised when they get home with an X-rated item they unknowingly purchased.

Like the Queensland mum who got the shock of her life back in 2022 when she realised what was printed on the 'cute' Christmas wrapping she bought.

Mum-0f-four Nicole realised that the $6.99 roll of paper she purchased from the novelty store included images of an aroused snowman and some randy reindeer mounting each other.

"I purchased them online and only noticed when I was wrapping my third present - thankfully the first two were for me and my partner!" she joked with Kidspot at the time.

What do you think of Typo's cheeky selection each year? Too much or want more?
