THE WINERY

(AUSTRALIAN VENUE HOTELS)

With more than 30 wines by the glass, this chic urban winery is sure to have a drop that befits your palate.

But rather than stop in just for a few sips, grab a table inside, or out on the terrace, and enjoy a meal from their Euro-inspired menu featuring dishes that range from black angus T-bone to grilled Hervey Bay scallops.

Use your $25 Dine & Discover voucher, and they’ll match it, making that $50 off your total food bill.

“We are so excited to be welcoming Sydneysiders back out into our venues,” says Evan Gargaro, the NSW state manager of The Winery’s parent company, Australian Venue Company (AVC).

“Doubling the Dine & Discover vouchers was our way of welcoming back diners and delivering a great experience with great value and great food.

“It’s our hope that locals will be encouraged to explore some of our other nine AVC venues around Sydney, including Manly Wine, Kingsley Woolloomooloo and Untied, that they may not have had the chance to yet.”

In addition to being a win for diners, Gargaro also notes: “We are grateful to the state government for supporting the hospitality and entertainment industry with this program, and we wanted to do our part to chip in.

“We also want to bring people back to work and offer more shifts for our team members, and initiatives like this go a long way towards helping businesses recover.”

FRATELLI FRESH, EL CAMINO CANTINA, THE BAVARIAN

(ROCKPOOL DINING GROUP)

Of course you love your family but after 12-months of takeaway and home cooking, a winning scratchie pales in comparison to a meal out made all the better with your $25 Dine & Discover voucher.

But, since you have a whole crew that is both starving for social interaction and a satiating meal, you’ll want a casual place that’s family-friendly, has great food, and makes the most of that $25 voucher.

Fortunately, at Fratelli Fresh, El Camino Cantina, The Bavarian and Winghäus by Bavarian, you can tick all those boxes with their value-packed Dine & Discover offer, multi-course meals for just $25.

“Our aim is to reward our loyal customers by giving them the biggest bang for their 25 bucks and to hopefully attract some new customers by offering a very generous deal,” food and beverage director John Sullivan says.

Each restaurant has a different menu with a choice of mains — think Jaeger Schnitzel at The Bavarian, rigatoni lamb ragu at Fratelli Fresh or a trio of tacos at El Camino Cantina.

Depending on which restaurant, you can also choose between an entree and dessert or a full three courses.

Since you’ve got two vouchers to use on separate occasions, the tricky part now is choosing which two places to visit.

MODUS BREW PUBS

Things changed for everyone in the past year, but for Johnny Bucknall and Grant Wearin, co-founders of award-winning Modus Operandi Brewing, that’s how they got started in the beer business.

Leaving their day jobs to hit the US craft beer trail, they returned six months later with a mission to create the best brew possible with only the purest of ingredients.

But a man’s got to eat, so a pub was added to the site serving quality food on par with the beer.

And while it’d be easy to stick with generic pub food, that’s not their style, so a menu was developed with such dishes as spiced cauliflower, pulled-pork burgers, and veggie nachos.

To get a taste of the whole Modus vibe, they’ve set up some pretty good meal deals so not only will you get a complimentary drink with your Dine & Discover voucher, that $25 will get you a choice between a southern fried chicken burger, a warm chicken Cajun salad, or a pulled pork pizza and garlic bread.

Oh, and when you use that voucher, kids’ meals are a mere $5. So just like their beer, this stuff is the real deal.

SPICE ALLEY

It’s one of the many things you may have missed in the past year — not just eating out, but a collection of food stall with the intoxicating smell of grilled meats intermingled with the fragrance of herbs and spices.

While a trip to the markets in Singapore is off the books, you can still satisfy those cravings for Japanese, Vietnamese, Singaporean, Thai, Malaysian, and Singaporean fare at Spice Alley Kopi-Tiam (Kopi-Tiam (translates literally to “coffee shop” but colloquially refers to hawker centres), a laneway designed to resemble the side streets and back-alleys of South-East Asia.

Spread out amid paper lanterns and vibrant murals are small tables with diners indulging in bowls of laksa, plates of flat noodles and stir-fried pork belly, as well as dumplings, desserts and more.

With more than 100 different dishes to choose from — no two vendors selling the same thing — you’ll be glad to know that not only is your $25 Dine & Discover voucher accepted at Spice Alley (all the vendors fall under the Spice Alley banner), they’ll load an extra $25 to your card so that you can, well load up.

TILLY MAY’S @ THE TRINITY

If the walls could talk, there’d plenty of tales to tell, starting with the pub’s earlier years as a watering-hole in rough and tumble Surry Hills to the multi-purpose venue it is today with a ground-floor bar offering classic pub fare and TVs tuned to sports, to the chic upstairs space, Tilly May’s, an expansive sun-drenched area with vaulted ceiling and more refined dishes such as the kingfish ceviche with a Champagne lime dressing, truffle mushroom arancini, and ocean trout with beetroot yoghurt.

The Trinity also tells a tale of the hardship that hit hospitality during COVID-lockdown through to today as Sydney slowly regains its vitality. To keep the stories going, hang out a little longer over lunch or dinner as The Trinity (and Calligeros Hotel Group’s other venues, The Terrace and Rag & Famish) will match your $25 Dine & Discover voucher, making that a $50 credit towards your total food bill.
